Location :
Mollendo is located on the shores of the Peruvian Sea , 85 km from the city of Arequipa . It is the starting station of the Southern Railway that connects it with the cities of Arequipa , Cuzco , Puno and Juliaca .
Mejía is one of the six districts that make up the province of Islay , located in the department of Arequipa , in southern Peru , 16.9 km from Mollendo.
The main attraction of Mollendo and Mejía are their wide and attractive beaches.
How to get to Mollendo and Mejia.
From Lima take a plane to Arequipa and from there take a bus to Mollendo, duration 2 hours and 20 minutes.
By land from Lima take a bus duration approximately 16 hours. Ticket 100 new soles.
Between Mollendo and Mejía there are only 16.9 km, you can go by bus and it takes approximately 20 minutes.
Where to Stay .
We reserved an apartment in Mejía through Airbnb with 3 bedrooms, 2 and a half bathrooms with a garage, 5 minutes from the beach (walking) .
There are excellent hotels in Mollendo as well as Airbnbs, we chose Mejía because it is smaller.
Tips :
It is advisable to rent a car to visit the different beaches and resorts in these two beautiful cities.
You change dollars at a currency exchange office. (best price)
.Do not wear jewelry during your stay.
.Taxi is cheap, you also have the option of a motorcycle taxi within the city, approximately 3 to 4 new soles.
If you take it on the street, negotiate the price before getting in.
.In most restaurants they offer a “Menu” they serve a starter, a main course, in some cases desserts, bread and a soft drink, an average value of 15 new soles ($4 US dollars).

.Catarindo Beach. A paradise, a small cove 15 minutes from Mollendo, calm and clean sea.
.Second Beach. Very nice and quiet beach.
.First Beach. The busiest, the sea is calm.

We spent some extraordinary days in the cities of Mejia and Mollendo – Arequia , we enjoyed their beaches and their exquisite gastronomy, it is not a goodbye but a see you soon.
